Submarines, Aircraft, Military, CIA., warfare and enemies of the U.S. You're in the Subs, on the aircraft and warships. Fighting to survive in battle. Characters are easy to identify with. The action starts from page one. Your Instantly drawn into the plots.There are several players that interact throughout his books. Each chapter takes you to actions of the different players . In other words . Never boringOne of the stronger parts of Mr.Campbell's books is the depth and the completion . All questions are answered and the Epilogue completes the books. I really enjoy the fact his books don't take the quick and easy ending. He goes way beyond a lot of Authors whose books lack depth and end quickly with little reward for the readers. Just when you think the books are about to end he throws another aspect into the mix.
I've read them all. Highly recommend his book to others. You'll be hooked and won't be able, to put the books down. Only wish is he 20 more like these.

Although the main plot has sustained action it does lack additional action in which a lot of the plot involves land combat-style action and hardly enough supporting action from the submarine or its own naval combat team. The main plot of the book is alright but more could have been included involving submarine action. However, despite the lack of submarine involvement I truly enjoyed the novel and I recommend this book to break up any boring day.

A twisty plot that is completely believable. There are many places in the story that makes it difficult to put down.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, kept you on the edge of your seat. The characters were good, don't you just love having a 'Badie' to hate. This was my first novel by John Campbell and I went online and bought another one after finishing it. "Raid on Truman", I am not disappointed, 35% through this book and I do not want to put it down. For me entertainment is the key and that is what John delivers, thank you John, I will be choosing another after this is finished, hope those of you who read my review will give this Author a go, he will not let you down.
Lots of underwater action as the North Koreans attempt to steal a test vehicle from a U.S. missile defense exercise. Combat is almost non-stop as forces from the United States and North Korean submarines fight it out on land in a see-saw battle that adds many twists and turns to the plot. To escape the bad guys, a few of the friendlies make a gruesome trip through an underground passage, however, the good guys win the final battle by using a most unusual weapon. This is a very exciting page turner that should not be missed.
Unfortunately, this is one of those books you should warn other potential readers about. It does read fast, but not well. The formatting is defective on my Paperwhite (half-width columns mixed with full-width columns), it is unbearably verbose, the plot (what very little there is) moves at a snail's pace, and it's somewhat boring. It is insufficiently edited. The situations seem unrealistic. It is not really entertaining and I will not read more from this author.
Finally, a rousing action-adventure page-turner. It seems like so many old favorite authors are just phoning in their works anymore. This novel rekindled the old thrill of reading. Excellent work. A minor travelogue, I took Air Mike flight 957 to dive in Chuuk (Truk Lagoon, the Japanese Pearl Harbor). When you stop at Kwaj, a Humvee with a 50 caliber machine gun mounted on top meets the plane, and no one gets off without authorization. Delightful island-hopping adventure, Island residents boarded the plane wearing flowered headdresses. No meals between short hops, so the passengers bought pepper tuna, fresh fruits, and drinks to share at the terminal. Off topic, sorry, but I really enjoyed this book.
